The problem

Quoting utilities without context is broken.

The same friction shows up at every supplier and broker desk: missing context, slow follow-up, and privacy worries that quietly cost everyone deals.

Customers do not know what details matter

Most people cannot list their unit rate, standing charge or contract end date on demand — even when they are paying for them.

Phone calls and screenshots create mistakes

Reading numbers off a PDF on a call wastes time on both sides and quietly produces wrong quotes.

Suppliers quote from incomplete information

Without usage, tariff structure and renewal context, an offer is more guess than quote — and rarely lands.

Follow-up activity is hard to track

Did the customer open the email? View the offer? Decide silently? Most workflows lose the signal after “sent”.

Privacy concerns slow everything down

Customers hesitate to share full bills with brokers they do not yet trust. Calls drop off and forms get abandoned.

Renewal timing is often missed

By the time a customer is ready to compare, they are already on out-of-contract rates that everybody dislikes.

How it works

Five steps from sign-up to accepted offer.

The early-access workflow is intentionally simple — anonymised opportunity in, transparent cockpit out.

01

Register your partner profile

Tell us your partner type, the entity behind the brand, and the contact person. Approval is reviewed during early access.

02

Select service categories and regions

Pick the utilities you actually quote for and the UK regions you cover. You only see opportunities you can serve.

03

Review anonymised quote opportunities

Opportunities arrive with the technical context that decides a price — never the customer's name, address or PDF.

04

Prepare offers in the quote cockpit

Enter your rates and terms. The cockpit shows current monthly cost, your offer and the estimated monthly/annual delta.

05

Track views, update requests and accepted offers

See which quotes have been opened, where the customer has asked for an update, and which offers have been accepted.

What suppliers see / what stays private

Enough context to quote. Nothing more.

The default is anonymised technical context only. The customer chooses if and when to reveal personal details by accepting an offer.

Suppliers may see

  • Utility category (e.g. electricity, broadband, waste)
  • Customer type (household, landlord, HMO, small business)
  • Region or postcode area (never the full address)
  • Usage and billing period
  • Tariff structure (single rate, day/night, pass-through)
  • Current estimated monthly / annual cost
  • Contract end or renewal date
  • Category-specific technical fields (e.g. MPAN region digits, bin size, broadband speed)

Not shared by default

  • Full customer name
  • Email or phone number
  • Full address
  • Account numbers (MPAN, MPRN, supplier account references)
  • Uploaded bill PDFs
  • Raw extraction files
  • Personal documents

Personal details only become visible to a supplier if the customer explicitly accepts an offer inside their workspace. UtilityPilot never sells customer data to third parties.

Quote cockpit

A focused workspace for preparing offers.

Every opportunity opens into one cockpit view: current cost, your offer, the estimated delta and the bill basis you are pricing against. Estimates only — final figures are confirmed by the customer with you.

FAQ

Supplier & broker questions.

Plain answers to the questions we hear most from suppliers and brokers evaluating UtilityPilot.

Who can register as a marketplace partner?
UK-registered energy suppliers and brokers, water retailers and brokers, waste providers, broadband and mobile providers, insurance brokers, property service providers, accountants and bookkeepers, and other relevant partners in the categories UtilityPilot supports. You choose a partner type when registering. Early-access profiles are reviewed manually before marketplace access is enabled.
Do suppliers see customer personal details?
Not by default. Suppliers see anonymised, category-specific technical context — region or postcode area, usage, tariff structure, current cost, renewal date. Full name, full address, email, phone number, account numbers and uploaded bill PDFs are not shared by default and only become visible if the customer explicitly accepts an offer.
Can I quote without seeing the uploaded bill PDF?
Yes — that is the default. Opportunities arrive with the structured fields needed to price an offer. Raw bill PDFs and original uploads stay inside the customer workspace; suppliers do not download them.
What categories can I quote for?
Electricity, gas, water, broadband, mobile, waste and insurance. Council tax is included as advisory context only — UtilityPilot does not facilitate switching for council tax. You pick the categories you actually serve when setting up your partner profile (alongside your partner type).
Can customers request an updated offer?
Yes. The customer can request an updated offer without revealing personal details — your supplier cockpit surfaces the request and you can issue a revised quote. The customer can also decline or report an offer; both actions appear in your tracking view.
Does UtilityPilot automatically switch the customer?
No. UtilityPilot does not switch suppliers on the customer's behalf, and does not move them onto a new tariff without an explicit accept action. Every supplier transition is the customer's own decision, made directly with the supplier they choose.
Are supplier plans paid?
Not yet. The Supplier Free plan is available during early access with quote and region limits. Starter and Pro paid plans are planned later with transparent monthly pricing — Stripe checkout is not enabled yet and no card is required.
Can brokers use UtilityPilot?
Yes. Brokers are welcome alongside direct suppliers. The same anonymised opportunity flow applies, and customers stay in control of any contract they accept. Brokers are expected to comply with their existing UK regulatory obligations when contacting accepted customers.
